Animal Emergency, Specialty Center Celebrates New Facility

Animal Emergency & Specialty Center (AESC) in Poulsbo, Wash., celebrated opening its new specialty and emergency hospital earlier this month.

The hospital upgraded from a 2,400-square-foot building to a 12,000-square-foot facility, allowing AESC to provide specialty and emergency services. The relocation offers more innovative space to provide the best care possible to the hospital’s community of pets and pet parents.

AESC was established in 1993 to support general practices during nights and weekends. In addition to providing 24-hour care, hospital leaders hoped to offer specialty and emergency services one day. AESC joined NVA in 2017.

Over the last few months, many NVA team members have worked diligently to help prepare the staff and clients for transitioning into their new facility.

“While our team focused on the new build, the rest of the team made sure operations continued to run smoothly to ensure each patient received the quality care we are committed to providing. I feel honored to work with such an incredible, dedicated team,” Hospital Director Patty Selvidge said.

The new location has several advancements, including:

  • 10 exam rooms
  • Three surgery suites
  • Internal medicine
  • CT capabilities
  • Dedicated feline ward
  • Dedicated GI and respiratory isolation spaces
  • Two procedures room for specialty services

The staff of AESC and members of the surrounding community came together to celebrate with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

“We would like to offer a special thanks to the Support Center team members who helped drive this opening from concept to reality,” said Kevin Luethy, senior manager, Facilities, Safety and New Site Openings.

Please join us in congratulating the AESC team on their new facility!
